FORGING A SMALL KNIFE

I’ve always wanted to try my hand at forging. It is fascinating that hard metal becomes so flexible in fire that you can give it a new shape.

An old piece of spring steel became a blade for a small outdoor knife.

The handle is made of oak, the bolster is made of a piece of antler.

To make it easy to carry, I made a sheath out of 3 mm thick vegetable tanned leather. A quick seam of linen thread with saddle stitch and a rivet for the belt buckle – ready is a small selfmade knife.
