THE BEGINNING OF MY CELLO BUILD

The Strad Publishing Co. in England publishes posters of famous violins. On the front are pictures of the instrument, on the back technical drawings. Unfortunately, many of the interesting posters are no longer available.

After some research I acquired a complete plan for the Antonio Stradivarius „Davidoff“ Cello from 1712.
I traced and redrew the plan and derived a construction mold from it. The mold consists of two plates, which are kept apart by wooden blocks. I made the mold collapsible. This way it can be removed from the rib garland after the linings (edge reinforcement) have been glued in. I got the idea for the mold construction from the luthier Chet Bishop from bluefiddles.com
